I can’t believe it’s been 3 weeks already since I came
here. Really time flies!! I am not so good with technology, but thanks
to the class I am taking online right now, it taught me how to make a video and
put it on Youtube. When I do a project
like this, I feel old. Anyway, I did
it!! So here is the link if you are
interested.

Today I would like to talk about sad news I heard. We had 2 children who used to come from the
trash dumping site, which you can see in my video. One of them committed suicide about a month
ago. He was an orphan and heavily addicted
to drugs. He was only 16. The other one
is kind of lost in his life right now and again using drugs constantly. He is 14, and these two grew up like brothers
watching out for each other. They are very good kids who never received any
chance in their lives. I took them out
to eat and told them to come to practice so that I can buy some food. But growing up on streets, assimilating into
the normal society might be difficult for them in a way I can’t imagine.
I'm sorry to hear about one of your kids.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed watching your video. What you are doing is truly touching.
When I was in India earlier this year, I saw many street kids as well. It is heart breaking. I was ready to bring some home with me. We are so blessed to live in the United States of America. It is hard to believe the conditions that some of this kids are living in. You are doing a wonderful thing, your work will touch many kids.

ReplyDelete- I didn't realize there were instructions somewhere. I just figured it out on my own. So here's mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyFDirjM-NM
- It's a great thing you and Mario are doing for the kids. We need more people like you out there. Sorry to hear though about the one kid who killed himself and the other that fell back in the drug haze.
- So that's the beauty of taking an online course. You can get your education and help kids out, which is one way to guarantee they are getting their needs and not wondering if some charity group you're shoveling money to is keeping it for their own personal use.
- How long are you staying in Guatamala?
Sorry to hear about the two kids. Really sad that one will never get a chance, but prayerfully the other will one day soon. However, like you said, it's hard to change your way of life. The streets is what they've known.
DeleteAfter the storm on Friday here, I was more grateful for than ever for the luxury of air conditioning and recognized the many places that aren't afforded that option. I don't complain anyway, but to hear such heartfelt stories makes me more humble. You're a blessing to so many right now.
